Heroin Antidote Narcan Approved for Another NH School District
Manchester this week joined Nashua in stocking schools with Narcan to combat heroin overdoses.

NASHUA, NH — Another New Hampshire school district this week joined Nashua in stocking Narcan at schools to combat heroin overdoses.
The Manchester School Board approved the measure Monday night. Narcan stocking was approved in Nashua and Berlin schools earlier this year.
“I don’t think we can deny that this problem exists in our community,” Nashua Board of Education member George Farrington said at the time. “This is important and responsible.”

Narcan is an antidote that can rescue someone suffering an opioid overdose. Gov. Maggie Hassan last year declared opioid abuse a public health crisis.
The measure passed by Manchester school officials Monday dictates that only adults can administer Narcan; also if it is administered, the school will be placed on lockdown, according to NH1.
