Man to Face 4th Murder Trial in '88 Killings of Lesbian Couple in Nashua
Anthony Barnaby, 48, of Canada, will be arraigned again this morning in the murders of Brenda Warner and Charlene Ranstrom.

A Canadian man will become the first person in New Hampshire history to face four trials in the same murder case.
Anthony Barnaby, 48, will be arraigned again today in the 1988 deaths of Brenda Warner and Charlene Ranstrom. He was recently extradited to Nashua.
Prosecutors said he and fellow Canadian citizen David Caplin—working construction in Nashua in the late ‘80s—harassed the lesbian couple for being gay then fatally stabbed them inside the couple’s apartment on Mason Street on Oct. 2, 1988.

Caplin was also recently extradited to New Hampshire and charged with murder.
Nashua police said they secured the most recent murder charges thanks to new DNA testing techniques.
Barnaby was tried three times starting in 1989. All three trials resulted in a hung jury. Caplin was charged with murder but has never faced a trial.
Barnaby will be the first person in New Hampshire to be tried four times for the same crime, according to his lawyer, Mark Sisti.
“It’s absolutely outrageous,” he told the Canadian Press.
