McBandits Nabbed After Failing to Get Cash at Wendy's

A pair of "hamburglers" who had no luck robbing a Wendy's on East Hollis Street, headed over to the McDonald's across the street to try again – where police were pretty much waiting for them.

Police on July 13 charged Louis Spaulding, 40, of 62 Cox St., Nashua, with two counts of robbery, a class B felony; and Raymond Ward, 34, no fixed address, for robbery, acting in concert with Spaulding, which is also class B Felony.

Nashua Police patrol officers were called to the Wendy's on East Hollis Street sometime after 6 p.m.

According to Nashua Police Lt. Michael Moushegian, both Spaulding and Ward demanded money from a cashier.

"They both had their hands in their pockets gesturing as if they were armed," Moushegian said.

That cashier went to get a manager, who went to get another manager.

"The third employee basically told them to get lost. That's my words, not his,"  Moushegian said.

After the manager refused to hand over cash, the two left the restaurant and walked across the street to McDonald's.

"Ward went into the bathroom while Spaulding allegedly approached a cashier and demanded cash," Moushegian said. The cashier turned over an undisclosed amount of cash to Spaulding, who then exited the eatery.

Police, however, had already arrived at the Wendy's across the street and spotted Spaulding on Marshall Street. Ward, still believed to be in the bathroom during the alleged robbery, was arrested a short time later as he exited the McDonald's.

Neither were armed with a weapon, Moushegian said.

A class B Felony is punishable by up to seven years imprisonment. Spaulding is currently being held at the Nashua Police Department on $50,000 cash or surety bail pending his arraignment at the 9^th Circuit Nashua District Division Court. Ward is also being held at the Nashua Police Department on $25,000 cash or surety bail pending his arraignment at the 9^th Circuit Nashua District Division Court.
