NASHUA, NH — A local felon was arrested last week on numerous felony charges after being accused of assaulting a Nashua police officer, cutting a woman with a knife, and threatening others, according to police.

At around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, officers were sent to the Motel 6 on Spit Brook Road to assist EMTs with a call. Initially, police were told there was a man in his underwear covered in dried blood who appeared to be under the influence of substances outside the lobby.

The first officer arrived and identified the suspect as Sebastian Corneau, 26, of an unknown address, and convinced him to go inside of the lobby where it was warmer. He was also given a sheet by motel staff. After going inside, he "quickly became hostile," an affidavit said and was accused of standing off with the officer.

"Let's fight," the affidavit claimed he said before punching the officer.

The officer pepper-sprayed Corneau in the face however, he was accused of continuing to assault the officer "numerous times" as well as pushing him. The officer struck him with a baton but "these strikes had no effect on Corneau's behavior as he continued to attack (the) officer," the report said. Corneau was accused of throwing a trash can at the officer which struck the officer, the affidavit said. The officer dropped their pepper spray, and then, Corneau began spraying the officer, the report stated.

As the officer exited the lobby, Corneau was accused of coming at him with a broken sign and the officer attempted to get him to stop the attack by striking him with a baton. Backup officers arrived and they were able to get Corneau under control and take him into custody.

American Medical Response EMTs treated an officer and two motel employees while police investigated the incident.

One EMT accused Corneau of threatening him, the report said. Officers also spoke with two women and learned that he threatened one with an X-acto knife, bit her, and cut her with a second knife, the affidavit stated. During the altercation in the room, the woman asked Corneau, "Are you trying to kill me?," to which he replied, "Yes," and, "Run," at which point, she exited the motel room, according to the affidavit. The second woman, who was staying in another room, stated that Corneau "looked crazy" during the altercation, the report stated.

One of the women, according to the report, said Corneau was a methamphetamine user.

Police requested a search warrant of the motel room where Corneau was staying and seized the X-acto knife, other blades, and blood evidence from a bed. Police also secured vide surveillance from the motel which corroborated the statements of the injured officer and other witnesses.

"Corneau can be seen chasing (a woman) with an object in his hand," the affidavit stated.

A records check showed that Corneau was not legally allowed to possess knives due to a previous felony conviction.

Corneau was charged with three counts of convicted felons (weapon possession), two counts of criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, domestic violence-reckless conduct, and two counts of criminal use of a self-defense weapon, all felonies. He is being held at the Valley Street Jail.

According to past criminal cases, Corneau was convicted of burglary in July 2011 after an incident in Gilford and receiving stolen property and burglary after an incident in Laconia. He was also convicted on drug and willful concealment charges after an incident in Gilford and a drug charge out of Laconia in December 2018 as well as a violation of probation or parole charge.
