NASHUA, NH — A man was arrested and held after refusing bail after being accused of sexually assaulting a girl he knew, according to police. Late last month, officers received a report accusing Andrew Atkinson, 32, of Nashua, of "sexually assaulting a juvenile female known to him," according to Lt. Robert Page of the Special Investigations Division of the Nashua Police Department. Detectives, he noted, furthered the investigation from July 23, and filed an arrest warrant against Atkinson on two counts of domestic violence-aggravated felonious sexual assault, two counts of domestic violence-felonious sexual assault, and one count of domestic violence-attempted aggravated felonious sexual assault.

At just after 8 p.m. on Aug. 11, Atkinson was arrested by police on the charges. He refused bail and was scheduled to be arraigned in Hillsborough County Superior Court-South the next day.

Atkinson faces 59 years in prison, according to Page.
