Nashua Man Arrested After Hanover Street Stabbing Incident

NASHUA, NH — A local man was arrested and was held after a manhunt Monday in the Gate City in response to a stabbing incident in an apartment building. Police, around 9:30 a.m., were sent to Hanover Street for a report of an assault with a knife. A man was found by police with "serious but non-life-threatening injuries" and was taken to the hospital. Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division furthered the investigation, according to Lt. Daniel Mederos of the Nashua Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division.

"Hector Manuel Olivo Quintero, who was known to the victim, was subsequently identified as the suspect in the assault," Mederos stated. "Olivo Quintero had fled on foot prior to police arrival. It was determined Olivo Quintero knowingly and recklessly caused several injuries to the victim with a sharp object."

The assault took place on Hanover Street between West Hollis and Kinsley streets. Olivo Quintero was arrested just before 2:45 p.m. He is also accused of discarding several items in a nearby trash receptable including clothing worn during the assault and the weapon involved in the incident.

Olivo Quintero refused bail and was held after being charged with nine counts of first-degree assault charges as well as falsifying physical and reckless conduct. He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Hillsborough County Superior Court-South. Olivo Quintero faces 159 years in prison and fines.
