Nashua Man Discharges Firearm During Domestic Incident: Police
Jose Castaneda-Alvarez was arrested on multiple charges Monday morning after an altercation at a Nashua home late Sunday night.

NASHUA, NH — A local man was arrested on Monday morning after allegedly refusing to exit his home when requested by police after a domestic altercation and a report of gunfire, according to police. Jose Castaneda-Alvarez, 40, of Nashua, was arrested at 1:23 a.m. on May 20, 2019, and charged with domestic violence-simple assault, felony reckless conduct, and four counts of resisting arrest or detention. Officers were sent to a home in the city around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday night for a report of shots fired.
When they arrived, witnesses told police that they had responded to the home to retrieve belongings after an altercation earlier in the evening.
“While standing outside of Castaneda-Alvarez’s residence, the witnesses indicated that they heard Castaneda-Alvarez fire three rounds from a gun,” according to Lt. Robert Page of the special investigations division of the Nashua Police Department. “Castaneda-Alvarez initially refused to exit the residence upon the request of officers, but ultimately did so.”

Castaneda-Alvarez was arrested and charged with assault and resisting. After detectives advanced the investigation, the felony reckless conduct charge was added. He was released on $5,000 cash/surety bail and will be arraigned on Thursday in Hillsborough County Superior Court-South.
Page noted that there were no injuries as a result of the rounds fired at the home, according to a press statement.

Castaneda-Alvarez, if convicted, faces about 12 years in prison as well as fines.
