Nashua Man Stole $2K In Bad Check Scheme: Police

NASHUA, NH — A Nashua man was arrested Thursday on charges stole $2,275 through a bad check scheme, according to police. Jonathan Mainguy, 31, was charged with four counts of felony forgery and two counts of misdemeanor theft.

Nashua police Lt. Craig Allard said Mainguy deposited two bad checks at Granite State Credit Union in Nashua and withdrew $1,500. Police said they launched an investigation February 2 after receiving a report from the credit union's fraud investigators.

Further investigation revealed Mainguy passed four more bad checks at credit unions across Nashua and withdrew an additional $775.

Police recently obtained a warrant for Mainguy's arrest and took him into custody Thursday. He was released on $340 bail pending an arraignment April 21 in Nashua District Court.
