Nashua Motorcyclist Struck, Killed by Alleged Drunk Driver

Family and friends are mourning Joseph Mearls.

Family and friends are mourning the death of a Nashua motorcyclist who police said was struck and killed by a drunk driver Sunday.

The crash happened at about 8 p.m. in the area of 722 West Hollis St. The motorcycle burst into flames, according to Nashua firefighters.

Romivel Cruz, 27, of Nashua, was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI. He was held on $50,000 bail pending an arraignment Tuesday.

The motorcyclist was Nashua resident Joseph Mearls. Those who knew him have been mourning him on social media. A memorial fund has been established.

When officers arrived at the crash scene, Cruz exhibited obvious signs of being drunk, according to police. He’s scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
