Nashua Murder on Kinsley Street: Suspect Arrested

Devin Tappan was charged with murdering Javier Rivera Afanador in a Kinsley Street apartment, Nashua police said.

NASHUA, NH — A suspect in a Nashua murder on Kinsley Street has been arrested, police announced Monday afternoon. Devin Tappan, 32, was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Javier Rivera Afanador, 45. Police said Tappan bludgeoned Afandor to death with a "hand-held weight."

Officers found Afanador's body while responding to a well-being check at 32 Kinsley Street Friday at about 7:30 p.m., according to Nashua Police Chief Andrew Lavoie.

Police immediately deemed Afanador's death "suspicious" and on Sunday announced the cause was homicide. Tappan was arrested Saturday on unrelated charges, police said. Tappan was scheduled for an arraignment Monday in Nashua District Court.

Tappan and Afanador lived in the same apartment building at 32 Kinsley Street, police said. Afanador lived in Apartment 1 and Tappan lived in Apartment 8. Afanador's body was found in his own apartment, police said.
