Jeffery A. Strelzin, senior assistant Attorney General, says the couple got into some sort of altercation on Saturday night.
“Based on the investigation to date, it appears that Meg Halley and Allen Rediker were out with friends, socializing and drinking alcohol, in the downtown area of Nashua on the evening of November 29, 2014,” he wrote in a statement. “Sometime after 10 p.m., Halley and Rediker left their friends behind and started walking home. An argument ensued during their walk home and Rediker pulled out a knife and stabbed Halley to death on the Baldwin Street Bridge. Afterward, Rediker walked to his home, armed himself with a handgun, and then engaged in a standoff with the police before eventually taking his own life.”
