Nashua And Roxbury Murder Suspects Arrested In New Hampshire

Derrell Sanford, a suspect in a stabbing in Boston in August, was arrested in Madbury; Ryan Barden was arrested in Belmont on Friday.

CONCORD, NH — Two recent murder suspects connected to two different incidents in two states were arrested during the past 24 hours in New Hampshire.

On Aug. 11, police were sent to a home in Nashua after a resident, Jared Daly, 35, was bludgeoned to death. Investigators said they believed Daly was killed 48 hours before his body was found. On Friday, the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office issued a release requesting assistance finding Ryan Barden, 30, on a second-degree murder charge connected to Daly’s death.

Officials believed Barden was somewhere in the Lakes Region, either Laconia, Tilton, or Belmont, which is ultimately where he was found by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Barden was arrested on Friday night on Stark Road in Belmont.

“Barden was located by members of the task force hiding inside of a bedroom closet, where he was removed and arrested without further incident,” White said. “Barden is en route to the Nashua Police Department for processing and holding pending his initial court appearance on Tuesday to face the homicide charges in Hillsborough County Superior Court – South.”

White said along with marshals, the Belknap County Sheriff’s Office and the Belmont, Greenfield and Nashua police departments all worked on the case.

A few days before Daly was murdered, Ricardo Garcia, 34, of Boston was stabbed in the area of Pierson Street and Mass. Avenue in Roxbury in Massachusetts, an area nicknamed as the “Methadone Mile.”

Police investigated the incident and issued arrest warrants against three men. One was Derrell Sanford, 26, of Roxbury, MA, who was arrested on Thursday in Madbury. According to White, he was found inside an apartment on Evans Road. Sanford is being held at the Strafford County Jail pending his court hearing on a fugitive from justice charge in New Hampshire before being returned to Massachusetts to face a murder charge.

Along with marshals in both the Bay State and Granite State, Belknap, Rockingham and Strafford county sheriff’s offices employees, the Federal Protective Service, ATF, and the Boston, Greenfield and Madbury police departments all worked on the Sanford case.

“These are two very serious offenders that were arrested here in New Hampshire,” U.S. Marshal Nick Willard said. “I am glad that we were able to combine our efforts with so many incredible investigators to help bring both of these men to face justice; which will hopefully give the victim’s families some sense of closure.”

Barden, according to superior court records, has several active drug possession cases out of Belmont, Bow, Franklin, and Hudson from the past year as well as identity fraud and breach of bail charges from Aug. 9 in Nashua, two days before the murder of Daly.
