Nashua Teachers Reject Contract Offer
The Nashua Teachers Union on Monday voted down a contract proposal by a vote of 357-269.

NASHUA, NH — The Nashua Teachers' Union on Monday rejected a contract offer with the School Board in a close vote. Teachers turned down the deal by a count of 357 to 269. The School Board approved the deal, but it required the union to sign off. Teachers have been without a contract since the beginning of the month.
Teachers have been frustrated by what they called a "lack of communication" from the board. (Sign up for free daily newsletters and breaking news alerts from Nashua Patch.)
Earlier this month, union President Adam Marcoux released this statement about the negotiations: "I have tried numerous times to engage in talks to move this process forward for both teachers and para-educators only to be met with responses stating why the Board could not meet or with no response at all ... The silence is deafening."

Nashua School Board President George Farrington told Patch the board has been unable to meet with the union for several reasons, including the hiring of new schools superintendent Jahmal Mosley in April and the start of school last week.
“Negotiations are never easy but both sides have been making a good faith effort to find a solution," Farrington told Patch.
