Nashua Teen Murder Suspect John Goff Could Be Tried as an Adult

Goff, 17, is accused of stabbing Benjamin Marcum (pictured) to death earlier this month.

John Goff, the 17-year-old Nashua resident charged with murdering a 49-year-old man earlier this month, will be tried as an adult if his cases advances that far.


Nashua police said Goff stabbed Benjamin Marcum multiple times. Authorities on March 12 found Marcum with grave injuries on a bike path near his home on Palm Street. He was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

Goff was charged with second-degree murder. The Union Leader reported he waived a probable cause hearing Thursday. His case will go to a grand jury for possible indictment—the step before a trial.

Some of Goff’s friends couldn’t believe he was charged with murder. He will be tried as an adult if his case advances that far.

“He’s way too kind-hearted of a person to do something like this,” one of Goff’s friends told WMUR.
