Nashua Woman Charged With Stealing From Elderly Man

NASHUA, NH —A Nashua woman is charged with stealing more than $1,500 from an elderly man. Nashua Police said Melanie Deschene exploited the elderly man living with family through taking control of his money without authorization.

Nashua Police said an investigation began in July into the possibility that the elderly man was being exploited by someone known to him. The Criminal Investigation Division determined that Deschene had taken control of more than $1,500 from the man and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

She was taken into custody on Tuesday morning on one count of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer.

A Class A felony is punishable by up to 15 years in state prison. Deschene was released on personal recognizance bail pending her arraignment at the Hillsborough Superior Court-South on October 17, 2019.
