Pennichuck Land Deal Hits Snag
Mayor Donnalee Lozeau is expected to request the delay of the proposed $2.2 land deal with Pennichuck, following lingering questions raised over wetlands by residents, some aldermen.
Resident Geoff Daly said he is preparing some pointed questions for Tuesday night's alderman's meeting, after noticing an addition to the Oct. 11 agenda.
"I kept looking all week, and finally, on Friday, late in the day, they added legislation being proposed by Mayor Lozeau and (President of the Aldermanic board) Brian McCarthy. The mayor has refused to talk about it, but we need transparency," Daly said.
Daly has been vocal about his objections to the current plan to build on the site, which would create all kinds of environmental problems because the land should be designated as a prime wetland, he says.

"After (Hurricane) Irene we actually got to see how things work on that land -- the water collected and we had some flooding, and then it disappated. The land is currenlty doing what it's supposed to be doing," Daly said.
Disturbing the land with a housing complex would endanger the entire eco-system, Daly said.
