Why are you seeking elective office?
I want to be of service to the citizens of Nashua, especially those in most need of Government support.
The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
The single most pressing issue in Nashua is the misappropriation of tax dollars for needless and wasteful projects. Nashua is still in an epidemic of drug addictions and drug-related deaths and city council is working on a dog park and a performing arts center. Their priorities are upside down. I intend to focus city spending on making sure schools, police, and fire are well-funded.
We also need to make sure that the Police commissioners remain independent from the Mayor's office.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I want to serve. As evidenced by his handling of the pandemic, Thomas Lopez wants to rule.
If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)
The board was overtaxed by millions and decided to keep the money instead of easing the tax burden.
How do you think local officials performed in responding to the coronavirus? What if anything would you have done differently?
The Board of Aldermen took measures that were out of proportion to the nature of the pandemic in New Hampshire. I would have made the city an instrument of support and guidance rather than force. We should have empowered people who wanted to mask and distance, not punish those who did not want to. We should have found ways for restaurants and businesses to stay open safely instead of forcing them to close.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.
I believe in enhancing individual liberty by helping the needy and by making Nashua a great place to do business.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I'm not "accomplished." I'm working hard every day to support my family and be the best husband and father I can be. For me, this election is about being the best citizen I can be and that means service and public action in my local community.
The best advice ever shared with me was:
Virtue is a habit. It has to be strengthened repeatedly like a muscle. You don't do virtue once and then you're done. You have to go out there and do it every day.
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
Really. I'm just a normal guy who wants to do some good for Nashua.
