Stacie Laughton, Transgender Former State Rep. from Nashua, Charged in Bomb Threat

Stacie Laughton, who made history in 2012 as New Hampshire’s first transgender lawmaker, was arrested by Nashua police Thursday and charged with calling in a bomb threat to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in February.
Laughton, 31, of 243 Main St., Apt. 21, was charged with making a false explosives report—a felony.
The arrest was another in a series of legal troubles for Laughton.

Shortly after she was elected, she was forced to step down after revelations she served jail time in 2008 for credit card fraud.
Police said Laughton made the bomb threat to the hospital on Feb. 27 at about 8:30 a.m. Police evacuated the building and searched but found nothing. They did not release further details. Police said Laughton turned herself in on a warrant Thursday and was released on $50,000 bail. She’s due in court April 16.

Laughton was born a man and now identifies as a woman.
“I never once believed I’d done anything wrong,” Laughton said about her decision to run for office.
