Trick, no Treats, for Felony Shoplifter

Marion Smith allegedly tried to steal candy from a local supermarket.

Marion Smith, 36, of 507 Broad Street, #28, Nashua, was arrested Oct. 27, after she was caught allegedly stealing candy from a local grocery store

Smith, was charged with robbery, a class B felony.

Police were called to the store at about 5:15 p.m. where she was being detained by a store employee who told police Smith was seen trying to steal several items from the store, including Halloween candy.

Employees tried to stop Smith after she left the store, and in the struggle Smith allegedly assaulted one of the employees, a male, who suffered minor injury.

In December of 2011 Smith was charged with felony shoplifting after a third attempt at allegedly stealing sneakers from a local department storm. In March of 2012, she was arrested again for attempting to take a pair of shoes from Kohl's department store. And in September of 2012, Smith was arrested after allegedly shoplifting some shirts from the Sports Authority on Daniel Webster Highway.

A class B felony is punishable by up to 15 years imprisonment, exclusive of fines. Smith was released on a two thousand dollar cash or surety bail, pending her upcoming arraignment at the 9th Circuit Nashua District Division Court.
