Victim in Fatal Nashua Fire Identified

Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal fire on Girouard Avenue Monday.

Maria Barriga-Consoni, 37, died after she became trapped on the second floor of a three-unit apartment building. Firefighters tried to reach her but couldn’t because the flames were so intense, according to the state Fire Marshal.

Authorities said the fire started in an outside porch. They ruled it accidental.

Two occupants leaped out of a second-floor window to escape the flames. One of them is a man who was being treated at Massachusetts General Hospital. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries and a total of five occupants were hurt.
