VIDEO: Who's More Patriotic Than Gerald the Moose?
Maybe you've seen the purple guy on Amherst Street.
At certain angles Gerald the Moose is downright majestic, his shiny black antlers opening to the sky, like giant hands with one too many fat fingers, his Old Glory wrap flapping, and pinwheel bling glinting in the sunlight with every passing breeze.
Although dressed up for Memorial Day, this moose is a permanent fixture on Amherst Street, sort of.
"We keep in on the trailer because he comes in nights and weekends. Someone would take him," said Robert Garneau, of , who invested in the purple moose with a painted on mega-watt smile a few months ago.

"We thought he'd make a good conversation piece, and we dress him up for every holiday," said Garneau.
In fact, Garneau has an entire year's worth of deck-the-moose finery already lined up.

"My business partner is getting a little mad at me because I keep picking up props for him," said Garneau, without a hint of remorse.
Currently Gerald's draped in an American flag, with patriotic pinwheels whirring.
But previously Gerald has been seen dressed like an overgrown four-legged leprochaun, donning his Easter finery, sporting a sombrero for Cinco de Mayo, and manning a sign reminding prom-going teens not to drink and drive.
"He was also wearing a Bruins jersey but we took it off after they lost," Garneau said.
In his former life, "Sir Gerald" lived in Littleton and was one of several man-made moose that participated in the New Hampshire Moose Parade, which distributed the moose to be decorated for charity.
Now, he's the silent spokesmodel for St. Laurent – and no, it's not a marketing ploy to get people to rubberneck at the sight of him so that they have fender benders on Amherst Street so that they need the services of the collision center.
"It's all for fun, and we hope it brings in some business. "This summer he'll be dressed like Jimmy Buffet." Garneau said.
