• Democrats gain across Upper Valley; Republicans hold Senate District 8 and Newport-area seats (vnews.com) — Orford will have a new representative in Concord after Democrat Paul Goundrey defeated Republican incumbent Linda Franz, 1,027 votes to 896. Goundrey will represent Orford, Rumney and Wentworth in the State House, where Democrats won a majority as several Upper Valley seats changed hands.
