2016 NH PTV Kids Writers Contest Winners Announced
More than 500 K to fifth grade students submitted stories to 22nd annual New Hampshire Public Television contest.

DURHAM, NH - Annoying baby brothers, teachers who might be aliens and a chipmunk-saving terrier were featured in stories written by kids in grades K-5 submitted to the 2016 NHPTV Kids Writers Contest. More than 500 creative entries were received from children across New Hampshire and beyond, and 132 stories were selected for first place, second place, third place and honorable mention recognition.
The NHPTV Kids Writers Contest encourages children to explore the power of creativity by writing and illustrating their own stories. It promotes reading skills through hands-on, active learning. This is the 22nd year NHPTV has hosted a story-writing contest; more than 11,500 children have participated over the years. An awards ceremony for the contest winners will be held in June.
“New Hampshire Public Television is proud to again offer the NHPTV KIDS Writers Contest. The contest underscores our commitment to learning,” said Susan Adams, NHPTV’s Educational Services Manager. “The process of creative writing has been proven to help develop academic skills and improve a child’s self-confidence, creativity and imagination.”
