6 #WeekendOfWomen Actions Held In NH

Events held on Saturday at the Statehouse in Concord, Portsmouth. Events also held in Jackson, Lancaster, Peterborough, and Wilton.

On Jan. 20, 2018, Granite Staters will reunite in Concord to "affirm our commitment to building a positive and just future for all, and to celebrate the spirit of resistance efforts over the past year," according to Granite State Progress Executive Director Zandra Rice Hawkins. The March on NH Together We Rise Rally, she noted, will be one of many worldwide events honoring the movement that brought millions of marchers out on Jan. 21, 2017, in what is considered one of the largest single-day demonstrations in history. The anniversary celebration will engage and empower voters to support women's rights, human rights, social and environmental justice, and to encourage participation in 2018 midterm elections, Hawkins stated.

Speakers for the Statehouse event include U.S. Sens. Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan, U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster, D-NH, U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-CT, and others.

“Last January millions of people marched around the country and across the world to raise our collective voices in hope for a better future. Since that day, the work has continued in local communities and organizations. We are coming together to commemorate that historic moment and further fuel the lasting movement it has created,” said Laura Lynch of Temple who organized the State House event.
