Acorn School Celebrates Fall Fundraisers

Acorn School hosts a Back to School Comedy Night and auction this fall to spread their message of encouraging healthy learning habits.

PORTSMOUTH- For some students, the transition from hours outdoors in the summer to being herded into classrooms may come with a bit of a struggle. Let’s face it, not all kids flourish in a traditional classroom, which may lead to frustrations with school and learning. The Acorn School of Stratham allows kids to develop healthy, encouraging learning habits by forging (maybe even disguising) their love of outdoors and hands-on activities with education. To celebrate the new school year, and the unique atmosphere The Acorn School has created, they are hosting a Back to School Comedy Night from 5:00 – 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 26 at Portsmouth Gaslight Co. The night is sure to be fun filled with food, drinks and laughter by comedian Wes Hazard, named 1 of “5 Boston Comedians to Watch” by the Boston Globe.

The night of the event they will be announcing the winner of the ongoing 50/50 raffle that they are running. Only 200 raffle tickets are being sold at $50 a piece for a chance to win $5,000! Don’t miss out on purchasing tickets for this hefty pay-day, while supporting The Acorn School! The winner will be drawn at the fundraising event on November 15, but you do not need to be present to win. Contact Chrissy Caron at cbakercaron@gmail.com to get your tickets for the 50/50 raffle.

The Acorn School isn’t your typical pre-K and kindergarten educational setting. Acorn has remained steadfast in its efforts to maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio, ensuring one-on-one interaction, ease of communication, and personal growth for each student. Since its inception in 1972 the school has used its beautiful surroundings in Stratham to help forge curriculum with a philosophy of stewardship within its students.

The student body is made up of approximately 100 students, ranging from ages 3 to 6. Students come from all over the seacoast, including northern Massachusetts and southern Maine, while the majority hail from local New Hampshire towns (i.e. Stratham, Exeter, Portsmouth, etc.).
