Local Event: 'As Time Goes By' (patch.com subscription) — Portsmouth theater fans can catch the time-travel comedy "As Time Goes By" when it opens Sept. 18 at The Players' Ring as the kickoff to the 2026–27 Mainstage season. The play follows a visitor from the future trying to stop one fateful night for a local couple, with performances through Oct. 11. Tickets are available now with discounts for seniors, students, veterans, and first responders.
   

2. Portsmouth's Sebastian Altamar voted football Defensive Preseason Player of Year (seacoastonline.com) — Portsmouth High School senior safety Sebastian Altamar has been voted the 2026 Seacoast Defensive Preseason Player of the Year, earning more than half of over 7,000 online votes. His coach praises his intelligence, leadership, and work ethic, calling him a true "coach on the field" who directs the Clippers' defense from the safety position.
   

3. TSA joins probe on car crash through Portsmouth airport fence at Pease (seacoastonline.com) — A 17-year-old driver faces multiple charges after allegedly fleeing police, crashing through the perimeter fence at Portsmouth International Airport at Pease, and badly damaging a small plane, prompting a TSA-assisted investigation. Airport crews quickly repaired the barbed-wire-topped fence, contained a fuel leak, and officials stress that security standards are being reviewed as the teen heads to Portsmouth District Court this month.
   

4. NH Seacoast man with Maine ties recalls supporting dignified recovery efforts at Pentagon after 9/11 (wmtw.com) — A Seacoast veteran now living in Portsmouth reflects on surviving the 9/11 Pentagon attack and helping with the dignified recovery effort the next day. He shares leadership lessons from that experience in his new book, "Proud to Serve," which explores how unexpected crises can shape character, responsibility, and later service in Iraq and beyond.
