After Recount, Vogt Bests Cali-Pitts In Newington, Portsmouth Ward 1 2022 Primary Race

Robin Vogt unseated 13-term state Rep. Jacqueline Cali-Pitts by 9 votes Sept. 13; will now head to the November general election unopposed.

CONCORD, NH — A recount on Monday sustained the unofficial results of the 2022 primary in Portsmouth for the newly created Rockingham District 21 seat representing Portsmouth’s Ward 1 and Newington.

On election night on Sept. 13, Robin Vogt beat state Rep. Jacqueline Cali-Pitts in the Democrat's primary by nine votes. On Monday, at the state archives building in Concord, a recount was held, and the vote was exactly the same as the unofficial results.

Cali-Pitts, according to her biography, was serving her 13th term in the House and previously served as a school board member and ward moderator.

It was a birthday present, of sorts, for Vogt, who ran in 2020 unsuccessful. According to a post on Twitter, he turned 29 on Monday. He has previously served as the co-chairman of the New Hampshire Progressive Coalition.

Two seats in Manchester, a race in Durham and Meredith, as well as Grafton District 3, which includes the towns of Easton, Lincoln, Livermore, and Woodstock, were also recounted by the results were the same as the unofficial totals.
