Alleged Bank Robber Arrested in Portsmouth

Police arrest Lamin Sanu on Blue Heron Drive for allegedly hitting a Mass. bank 10 days ago.

A local man was arrested after allegedly robbing a bank in Massachusetts earlier this month.

Lamin Sanu, 29, of Blue Heron Drive in Portsmouth, was arrested on Sept. 23, 2015, on a fugitive from justice charge.

According to police, around 3 p.m. they arrested Sanu at his home without incident. He was wanted for allegedly robbing the TD Bank in Groveland, MA, on Sept. 13, 2015.

Police reported the robbery at around 11:30 a.m. A man reportedly walked into the bank, handed the teller a note, that claimed he had a gun and a knife, and demanded money.

“The teller handed the suspect an unknown quantity of cash and he fled,” according to police. “The investigation so far indicates that the suspect fled south on Rt. 97/School Street toward the Town of Georgetown.”

No one was injured in the incident.

Police are asking anyone with information about Sanu or this particular crime to call the Groveland Police Department at 978-521-1212.

According to the Newbury News, Sanu was arrested in Amesbury in 2011 on warrants. He was living in Lowell, MA, at the time of the arrest.
