Alleged DWI Crash Sends Two to Portsmouth Regional Hospital

Police arrest Jessica Young of Tamworth on charges.

One person was arrested early this morning after a crash on Lafayette Road, according to police.

Jessica Young, 35, of White Mountain Highway in Tamworth, was arrested on Aug. 1, 2015, and charged with two felony counts of driving while intoxicated and operating without a license.

According to police, officers were sent to Lafayette Road and White Cedar Boulevard for a crash involving a Honda CR-V.

“On scene, officers discovered a vehicle had left the roadway and collided with trees adjacent to the entrance to The Cedars condominium complex,” according to Lt. Christian Cummings of the Portsmouth Police Department. “The vehicle had two occupants that suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash. Both driver and passenger were transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital.”

Witnesses alleged that the CR-V was traveling south on Lafayette at “a high rate of speed” and attempted to make a left hand turn into the complex. The vehicle lost control, drove over a median, left the roadway, and crashed into trees, according to the report.

Young was arrested and transported to the hospital along with a passenger, a woman from Portsmouth.
