Welcome to Budget Vogue’s salute to makeovers, upcycling, re-do’s.

Autumn in New England is the epitome of makeovers, cerulean blue skies highlight colors, it’s the brilliance of fall. Every year summer’s transformation to autumn is a celebration, a relook. Those trees know how to turn yellows, oranges, browns into brilliance, leaves take on new hues; it’s magic.

Makeovers can be both transient and permanent; effortless or daunting. Kate Goldsborough, of Littleton, New Hampshire specializes in transformation and provides insight into ways people can get their “best look imprint.”

(https://www.kategoldsborough.com/) Kate works both in person and at KGS Salon in Littleton as well as via video chats. Need some insight into how to get your best look for an upcoming wedding? Holiday? Vacation? Why not reach out? Sometimes we simply need another set of eyes to transform our own summers into falls, winters into springs.

When I showed my friend, Lila, a painting I’d found at a thrift shop, she found it as glorious as I but remarked, “I would have to paint that frame…the brown wood changes it from a Matisse to a child’s painting.” Lila does not mince words and she does know art and colors. Part of a makeover, a re-do is taking suggestions, not always easy to do. But this one was easy; I didn’t hesitate and now can absolutely appreciate Lila’s insight. Frames, like eyebrows, can change everything; sometimes we need a little push.

And as it’s now time to vote, it’s a brilliant opportunity to create a makeover for our government, our leaders, our laws. That puts Budget Voguers in the driver seat of change, in the power to transform. Are you ready? Are you willing to take suggestions? Will you vote? Mercifully, Americans have the right and opportunity to vote. That, dear Voguers, offers the easiest transformation possible. There is power in persistence; there is power in the ballot box.

As New Englanders, we transform constantly; we go from wide open windows to frost heaves without a second glance. As it’s the season of change, of cooling temps and down jackets, we experience makeovers constantly, soon we’ll be putting up trees in our homes, fairy lights to guide our paths. Transformations and makeovers give a re-charge.

And a re-charge in the form of a new haircut, a bright coat, tossing out a chair can provide a break and turn energy into vibrancy, staidness into frivolity. Does your cutlery drawer need a transformation? Get some new forks! Need some comfort as we enter the season of flannel? Why not a new pillow? You deserve it.

A friend once said, “change is as good as a break.” Why not change things up with voting? With a visit to a stylist? With a coffee with an old friend. Bring it on. Winter is coming, the autumnal leaves are brilliant; a painting can be transformed with a newly painted frame. Bring on the change, Budget Voguers, that’s the only constant there is.
