Event Details
Art on the Hill studio artists and local artisans at the old brick school house on the hill in Kittery will host their annual Holiday Open Studios on Saturday, November 29th, from 10 am-4 pm. The event is free, open to the public, and there is plenty of parking at 78 Government St., home of the big, green chair.
You will find fine art, jewelry, ceramics, textiles, herbal diffusions, floral arrangements, creative vintage clothing, and other one-of-a-kind stocking stuffers, and meet the makers in their space. As more people recognize the importance of the art community and supporting local artists and makers, Art on the Hill aims to contribute to building and sustaining a vital, creative community.
This year’s Open Studios features the work of studio artists that include: painters Lisa Noonis, Pamela Dulong Williams, Heather Guptill, Virginia Chase, Kathy Morrissey, Robin Litwin, and Maryse Newton, contemporary handcrafted jewelry by Melinda Salazar and Estie Ott, vintage clothing with collectors Amelia Davis, Whitney Fischer , and Stephanie Levy. In addition, we are excited to welcome to our community clinical herbalist Lana Kovacs of Witches Dream Botanicals, Ann Boardman’s “A Merry B Florals,” handmade clothing with Kathie Cornell, Grace Napolean of Taskwear and Kasey Cover of Intuition Kitchen.
The artist collective at Art on the Hill in the old Wentworth Dennett schoolhouse was built in 1922 and transformed into a community-based space for local artists in 2001 by developer Jeff Apsey. Its iconic giant green chair on the front lawn is a familiar sight, where locals and vacationers often stop to take fun pictures in the chair. Parking is plentiful at Art on the Hill, and a large new sign marks the building.
