Charity Theft Suspect Gives Himself Up

A man accused of burglarizing the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation office on Market Street earlier this month gave himself to police.

James T. Birkbeck, 39, of Lewiston, Maine turned himself in at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn, Maine this week, according to the Bangor Daily News.

Police said Birkbeck was chased away by an employee during the Sept. 21 burglary, police said.

Authorities are working to bring Birkbeck to New Hampshire to face numerous charges, according to the Bangor Daily News.
