Reviving a holiday tradition, the City Council voted to approve a Parking Enforcement Holiday on City-owned metered and kiosk parking in the downtown area from Saturday, December 17, 2022 through Monday, December 26, 2022. Parking fees in the Foundry Place and Hanover Garages remain in effect. The Parking Division will enforce a limit of three hours per day of free parking. This encourages turnover in the use of the spaces to allow a greater number of people to park, shop and visit downtown restaurants and attractions during the holiday week. Fifteen-minute time limits will also be enforced. Downtown parking enforcement hours are Monday through Saturday, 9 am to 8 pm and Sunday, noon to 8 pm. Any declared snow parking bans will also be enforced. The City hopes residents and visitors will take advantage of this, and support Portsmouth’s wonderful, local small businesses, restaurants and non-profits.
