Dover Woman Charged With Shoplifting

The following arrest information was supplied by the Portsmouth Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Monday, Aug. 22.

Monday:

  • At 7:45 a.m., police reported a burglary on Cate Street. The caller said someone had broken into his building sometime overnight.
  • At 8:35 a.m., police reported that a newborn squirrel was found on Aldrich Road. The animal was transported to the York, Maine, Animal Rescue.
  • At 4:17 p.m., police arrested a Dover woman for shoplifting on Woodbury Avenue. Megan N. Whitcomb, 27, of 10 Iona Ave., in Dover, was charged on two bench warrants and for theft (removing merchandise from a vehicle).
  • At 5:31 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man as a fugitive from justice after he turned himself in at the Portsmouth Police station. Justin J. Hallinan, 29, of 120 Cottage St. in Portsmouth was wanted for conduct after an accident.
  • At 6:51 p.m., police reported that the city Department of Public Works said the "No diving, no jumping" sign posted on the Sagamore Bridge on Sagamore Avenue was torn down and DPW employees suspect some of the kids that were there jumping off the bridge may be responsible.
  • At 8:04 p.m., police reported the theft of a backpack on Borthwick Avenue.
