A powerboat, according to the alert, hit a water skier with its propeller resulting in a man’s leg being seriously injured, according to Capt. Dunleavy of the NHMP.

The injured party – a man in his late 30s – was brought aboard the boat and taken to shore at the Grandview Campground where the family was staying. The boat was being operated by the cousin of the injured party, according to marine patrol.

“(The) occupants of the boat were met at the campground by the Rochester Fire/Rescue where (the man’s) injuries were treated and prepped for transport via life flight to Maine Medical Center,” according to Dunleavy. “Officers at the scene arrested John Paul McComiskey for suspected felony boating while intoxicated as it is believed that he operated a boat under the influence that lead to a serious bodily injury accident. He was released on a combination of cash and (personal recognizance) bail. No arraignment date was available at the time of this release.”

The injured man is in stable condition at Maine Medical Center. The boat was also removed at the scene by the marine patrol.
