Come celebrate the city's historical significance with the ringing of the churchbells downtown followed by a talk at the Discover Portsmouth Center. Portsmouth Peace Treaty Day marks the 1905 signing of the treaty that ended the Russo-Japanese War after 30 days of negotiations at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. In Portsmouth at 3:47 pm, the exact time the Treaty was signed, the Shipyard will give a salute echoed by the church bells of Portsmouth (and beyond). Following the bells, enjoy a free illustrated talk on 'Teddy Roosevelt's Nobel Peace Prize & NH Citizen Diplomacy' at the Discover Portsmouth Center at 4 pm. Free maps for self-guided tour of Portsmouth Peace Treaty Trail linking the iconic sites of the Treaty are available. Also enjoy free admission 12-5 to the Treaty exhibit at John Paul Jones House Museum.
