Though natural gas remains an abundant and inexpensive fuel, regional pipeline limitations coupled with a growing dependency on it to produce electricity, are pushing generation supply prices higher. Eversource, Spectra Energy and National Grid have proposed Access Northeast, a project that will expand the region’s natural gas capacity using existing pipeline routes. Additionally, the company’s Northern Pass project will bring clean, renewable hydropower to New Hampshire and New England, with an anticipated in-service date of 2019.
