Families First Gets Smoking Cessation Grant

Portsmouth’s Families First Health and Support Center has received a $5,000 grant to help prevent smoking, and to encourage people to quit.

The CVS Health and Community grant will support education and counseling at the center, Families First officials said today in a press release.

“Families First screens every patient for tobacco use at every visit and offers the patient a choice of resources to support their efforts to quit or reduce, including on-site counseling provided by two counselors on the staff of Families First; referral to a free, evidence-based phone counseling service called QuitWorks NH; and help obtaining nicotine-replacement items and/or medications,” Families First officials said.
