Fascia Flossing

Not just for your teeth!

We’ve all heard from our parents and dentists that flossing our teeth daily is very important for health. But did you know that flossing your body is just as important? Fascia flossing, a term coined in 2019, is the practice of stretching to release tension in the body and increase mobility. Don’t worry, you don’t need actual floss!

Fascia is a white connective tissue that wraps around muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments, and protects our organs. Without this hydrated, collagen matrix, our bodies would basically collapse. Fascia takes the form of whatever it is encasing, and without movement, it can tighten and hinder circulation and mobility. Enter fascia flossing!

This practice is a series of gentle stretches to help engage and lengthen tight fascia. Before getting out of bed in the morning, lie on your back, cross one leg over the other, reach your arms wide, and gently turn your head toward one outstretched arm, then switch sides.
