Former Foobar Ready for New Tenant

Some would like to see another music club similar to the former Muddy River Smokehouse.

For more than eight months, the former Foobar restaurant has sat vacant on Congress Street.

Many Portsmouth area residents remember the business that preceded Foobar even more – the former Muddy River Smokehouse. Like Foobar, it featured barbecue ribs, chicken and other grilled fare, along with great live blues music.

Currently, the space is being marketed by the Norwood Group. According to the real estate broker, the building's owner is looking for a new tenant to lease 7,500 square feet of space at $17 per square foot, or at $10,625 per month. It has 5,000 square feet for kitchen and restaurant space and 2,000 square feet in the lower level with a built out bar and music space. There are also 500 square feet of mezzanine office space.
