Plummer was placed on administrative leave until further notice, said Town Manager Larry Mead in a statement. The fire occurred on April 15, 2016, at Jones Creek Marsh, and required the work of 100 firefighters to combat it. The area had been under a red flag warning that day due to high winds and dry air.
Orchard Beach's fire chief since the fall of 2014, Plummer also worked in North Yarmouth, Standish and Gray, ME; the City of Cocoa; and Marlborough, MA.
