How to Get to Boston-Portsmouth Air Show

Portsmouth Police and event organizers are going with the same traffic plan used in 2011 that created few traffic jams.

The Service Credit Union Boston-Portsmouth Air Show is scheduled to take-off on Saturday and Sunday and event organizers and Portsmouth Police are going with the traffic plan used in 2011 that made a big difference.

The air show will be held each day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Portsmouth International Airport and patrons can access the event from the south by traveling on I-95 north to Route 33 and then onto Grafton Drive.

From the north, air show patrons can get to the event from the Spaulding Turnpike via International Drive, Ashland Road and Pease Boulevard where they will be directed by air show volunteers to designated parking areas. A parking fee of $10 per vehicle will be charged and vehicles that require two spaces will be charged $20.

Shuttle buses will run throughout the day to transport patrons to and from their vehicles. Meanwhile, Portsmouth Police do not want any air show goers to park along Grafton Drive. Anyone who does will have their vehicles towed, according to the Portsmouth Police Department's Facebook page.

"If you are going to the show, please anticipate traffic delays. Please do not bring pets; they are not allowed in the show and shouldn’t be left in your vehicles," according to the police department's Facebook page.
