Slots Still Open for Citizens Police Academy
The Portsmouth Police Department, Seacoast Crime Stoppers begins its annual program in April.

Would you like to learn about how the Portsmouth Police Department and Seacoast Crime Stoppers works?
Signup for the annual Citizens Police Academy, sponsored by Seacoast Crime Stoppers. The classes are free. Participants must be at least 18-years-old. Preferences will be given to residents and employees from the following communities: Portsmouth, Greenland, Rye, Newington, New Castle, Stratham, Newfields, Newmarket, Durham, Exeter, Kensington and the Maine towns of Kittery, Eliot, and York.
Application deadline is Wednesday, April 15. The course outline is subject to change based on availability and department activity that day. Class size is limited, so please get your application in early.

According to a statement, the goals of the academy are to: To bring citizens closer to their police departments; to bring a greater understanding of the role of the Police officer in the community; to provide a forum to address community concerns direct to the Police Departments; to expand the participants’ understanding of the laws and police procedure; and to increase the public awareness of crime prevention techniques.
