Local Companies Receive Job Training Grants

Matching grants will help train Portsmouth workers with new skills, according to Gov. Maggie Hassan.

Two Portsmouth companies have been awarded job training grants in an effort to help train workers with new skills, according to a press statement issued by Gov. Maggie Hassan.

McHenry Architecture of Portsmouth received a Job Training Fund grant of $2,130 for eight employees to attend myCADD for Revit architecture software training, according to the release. Ambit Engineering Inc. of Portsmouth also received a grant of up to $5,347 for training eight employees in a variety of skills, including hydraulic classification, US Army Corps wetland delineator methods, management and team leadership, Advanced AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and septic system evaluation.

“I am thrilled to announce the latest round of important grants to help New Hampshire workers develop skills for high-quality jobs at growing businesses,” Hassan said. “New Hampshire’s Job Training Fund is an important resource that has helped thousands of workers develop skills critical to success in the innovation economy. In order to attract innovative businesses, help existing companies grow, and support the creation of good jobs for New Hampshire’s middle class families, we must maintain our commitment to higher education and job training.”

In total, more than $27,000 in grants were issued in this round. More than $55,000 will be spent on the retraining effort.
