LoMo to Close, Vision Still Strong but Timing Not Quite Right

PORTSMOUTH, New Hampshire (January 8, 2014) – LoMo Restaurant, the Portsmouth eatery and catering company specializing in locally grown and raised fare, will be closing as of January 7th.
LoMo took over the space on Pleasant Street from the Green Monkey last fall. The new owners launched extensive renovations to accommodate their vision of supporting local food economies and provide an expansive catering service as well.
“Unfortunately, due to the extent of our renovations, the timing for the launch of LoMo coincided with the slower restaurant season in Portsmouth. At this time, the number of customers in town is just not enough to sustain the business,” management has said. “However, we love the culinary culture of Portsmouth and have definite plans to keep our ambition for a locally sustained eatery alive.”
With the new drive for farm to table restaurants taking hold across the country, there is ample opportunity for LoMo to resurface. The owners are passionate about food and offering the community not only quality fare, but an experience that promotes community-focused social, environmental and economic health.
