Man Allegedly Assaulted Victim At Assisted Living Facility
Portsmouth Police: Carlos Cruz of Berwick, ME, was arrested for burglary, attempted to rape, and sexual assault after incident last year.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — A Maine man was arrested this week on charges after he allegedly sexually assaulted a victim in a local assisted living facility, according to police. Carlos Cruz, 43, of Rochester Street in Berwick, ME, was arrested on Feb. 20, 2018, for burglary, attempted aggravated sexual assault, and sexual assault. The investigation into the incident began in October 2017, when a victim reported being assaulted, according to Det. Sgt. John Peracchi of the Portsmouth Police Department.

“There have been no reports of further victims and this is an isolated incident,” Peracchi stated.

Cruz was held without bail and the case will be handled through the Rockingham County Attorney’s Office Felonies First program, he noted.
