Market Square Day Festival Logo Unveiled By Pro Portsmouth
The 45th annual road race and festival will be held on June 11. Artist Kelly Goodwin of Heinemann Publishing designed the 2022 logo.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — Market Square Day has a new logo for 2022.
This year’s logo, put together by Kelly Goodwin, a senior marketing designer at Heinemann Publishing, was unveiled on Thursday at Duckfeet on Islington Street, a Danish shoe company and first-time sponsor of the event. The logo promotes the city event, scheduled for June 11, which is in its 45th year, Barbara Massar, the executive director of Pro Portsmouth, said.
Market Square Day features entertainment throughout the day on the Pleasant Street stage and a 10K road race, too. Acts will fill the downtown with music and dance, she said.

“No doubt about it,” Massar said, “getting out and connecting with people has been so important as we continue to make our way through these changing times, and helping to introduce the community to Duckfeet and their amazing footwear seemed like a good idea.”
Goodwin said Market Square Day had always been a special event for her family. Her uncle provided the lights and sound for the event for many years, she said.

“I decided to submit a logo again this year because it gives me the opportunity to do something creative outside my work,” she said. “Market Square Day is so festive and fun, so coming up with a logo that encompasses the energy of MSD is just so enjoyable.”
Goodwin said being creative during the coronavirus pandemic had been “arduous,” requiring her to go “out of my way to pick up that bristol board and charcoal.”
She added, “The opportunity to submit such fun art for an exciting event always picks my creative brain.”
The logo will be featured on racewear, volunteer T-shirts, and festival shirts.
Massar also thanked businesses that make Market Square Day possible including Mass General Brigham Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Atlantic Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, Primmer, Piper, Eggleston & Cramer, People’s United Bank, Runner’s Alley, xfinity, Team David, NH State Council on the Arts, Coca Cola Beverages Northeast, alpha graphics, Blue Dolphin, ad cetera graphics, and InHouse Digital.
