“Further investigation determined the suspect vehicle, a 1996 Toyota Corolla, struck the rear of a tractor-trailer unit, left the travel portion of the roadway and drove into the median strip,” Vetter alleged. “The operator, now driving on only three tires, returned to the highway and fled the scene south on I-95.”
The trooper followed the debris field of tire and vehicle parts that were falling off the vehicle and stopped it later, according to the report. The driver – Blomquist – was uninjured but allegedly gave off “indicators that he was impaired.” He was arrested later.
