Massachusetts Man Arrested On DWI Charge: Portsmouth Cop Log
Crashes were reported in the city; complaints filed against disoriented drivers; boys accused of throwing items off a parking garage.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — Edward M. Harris, 23, of Fox Meadow Lane in Arlington, Massachusetts, was arrested at 4:36 a.m. on Aug. 7 on a driving while intoxicated charge and a one-way road and rotary violation. Police were sent to Daniel Street for a report of a vehicle driving the wrong way on a one-way street. The vehicle was stopped, Harris was given field sobriety tests, and arrested. National Towing came to pick up the vehicle. Harris was released to a sober party later.
At around 3:50 a.m. on Aug. 7, police received a report from Newington police about a woman in a vehicle not wearing a shirt at the Cumberland Farms in their community. Police received a second call about the woman from another party. Later, Newington and New Hampshire State Police found the woman and took her to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for eval.
Police were sent to a two-vehicle crash at 11:06 p.m. on Aug. 6 at the intersection of Miller Avenue and Lincoln Avenue between a car and an SUV. The two vehicles were towed from the scene.

A driver, who was disoriented by the glare of the sun, was questioned by police around 5:26 p.m. on Aug. 6 after officers received reports of a car all over the street on Lafayette Road.
A “problem customer” was served a no-trespass order on Durgin Lane after Portsmouth fire and rescue teams were requested to assist her, having her refuse assistance, and then was moved along. Employees at the establishment called the police at 3:27 p.m. and 4:29 p.m. on Aug. 6 — when she was scheduled to vacate her room at 11 a.m.

Police were told, at 3:04 p.m., about a purple Dodge that was driving extremely fast and “went airborne” across an intersection in the area of Peverly Hill Road, Lafayette Road, and Greenland Road.
On Fleet Street, at 1:34 p.m. on Aug. 6, police received a report about two boys with short hair and wearing black clothing throwing stuff onto the roof of Gilley’s from the top level of the parking garage. An officer checked out the parking garage, found nothing, and cleared the scene.
An accident between a Mercury and a GMC was reported at 12:14 p.m. on Aug. 6.
Police investigated a fraudulent check made out to a contractor at 9:09 a.m. on Aug. 6. The contractor said it was the second time it occurred, but the jurisdiction was outside of Portsmouth. The contractor was assisted in finding the proper jurisdiction for the crime.
At around 8:09 a.m., police were sent to Bartlett Street to investigate a domestic but did not hear or find anything. Two people were spoken to, and they denied hearing anything in the area.
Police investigated possible missing cash and a pistol from a home on Codfish Corner Road at 7:53 a.m. on Aug. 6.
