NH State Trooper Injured on Route 16
Trooper taken to Portsmouth Memorial Hospital after crash.

On Dec. 9, at approximately 5:15 am, a trooper with New Hampshire State Police Troop A, was investigating a motor vehicle crash on Route 16 southbound in the area of Exit 1 involving a 2000 Jeep Cherokee and a 2007 Nissan Altima.
The trooper was parked in the breakdown lane behind the vehicles involved in the crash in a fully marked State Police Cruiser with the emergency lights activated when a 2011 Lincoln Town Car being driven by Newington resident crashed into the rear of her cruiser. The cruiser then lunged forward and struck a 2007, Nissan Altima occupied by a man from Dover.
The trooper was transported to the Portsmouth Regional Hospital where she was treated for minor injury. None of the other operators were injured in either crash.

One lane of Route 16 southbound was closed for approximately 45 minutes while emergency personnel handled the scene, and while State Department of Transportation crews treated the road after the scene had been cleared.
Assisting the New Hampshire State Police at the scene were the Newington Police and Fire Departments.

Preliminary investigation shows that the operator was traveling too fast for the existing weather conditions.
